Anark Corporation Successfully Completes Groundbreaking OIB Modernization Project with MxD, Picatinny Arsenal, and Rock Island Arsenal
Boulder, CO – Anark Corporation, in collaboration with the Manufacturing Innovation Institute (MxD) and key U.S. Army installations, Picatinny Arsenal and Rock Island Arsenal, is proud to announce the successful completion of the "Closed-loop Technical Data Exchange" project. This project, initiated under the Department of Defense's (DoD) OIB Modernization Challenge, advances technology innovations that support the modernization of the U.S. Army’s Organic Industrial Base (OIB).
The 6-month project demonstrated the potential for significant enhancements to the Army’s technical data exchange and collaboration processes. By integrating Anark’s cutting-edge digital collaboration tools with PTC Windchill’s PLM system, the project team improved workflow efficiency, eliminated manual processes, and accelerated decision-making across critical engineering and manufacturing activities.
Key accomplishments of the project include:
-
Enhanced Technical Data Accessibility: With the introduction of standardized Digital Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and a modernized review and collaboration process, critical technical data is now more accessible and traceable, improving operational efficiency across OIB sites.
-
Closed-loop TDP Management: Anark's solution combats the challenge of "part-orphaning," ensuring that technical data remains synchronized and accessible in real-time, even in complex, legacy environments.
-
Scalable Path to Digital Modernization: The solution developed during the project is not only tailored to meet current operational needs but also provides a scalable roadmap for future digital transformation across the Army’s depots, arsenals, and ammunition plants.
The project’s pilot system demonstrated a marked improvement in process speed, reducing the time spent on manual data handling by 62% and cutting review cycle times by 2.3 times. The integration of Anark Collaborate with Windchill has also ensured that the Army's technical data processes are more streamlined, reducing the risk of errors and improving compliance with DoD digital engineering standards, including DoD Instruction 5000.97 on Digital Engineering.
“We are thrilled to see the potential of this transformative solution to deliver significant efficiency gains and a competitive advantage to one of our most critical manufacturing sectors,” said Patrick Dunfey, Vice President of Marketing and Alliances at Anark. “This collaboration with MxD, Picatinny Arsenal, and Rock Island Arsenal highlights the power of modern digital solutions to overcome legacy process inefficiencies. We are proud to be at the forefront of digital modernization in the U.S. Army’s Organic Industrial Base and beyond.”
With a focus on delivering a modern, secure, and scalable system that bridges the gaps between legacy systems and the digital future, Anark is committed to supporting the Army’s digital engineering efforts. This success serves as a key step in the broader mission to sustain the workforce, maintain operational readiness, and enable future growth through innovation.
