Persistent IDs and Model-Based Collaboration for the Digital Thread

Cross-domain manufacturing collaboration in aerospace and defense still relies on disconnected tools, including email, screenshots, and PowerPoint markups. The result is costly delay between design, manufacturing, and quality teams. Persistent Identifiers and other standards-based structured information can address this by assigning stable, unique identifiers to part features. Those identifiers remain linked across every domain, revision, and stakeholder throughout the product lifecycle.

As related, the DDP/CASCaRA framework, developed by prostep ivip and submitted to the OMG as an emerging global standard, represents a parallel effort with closely aligned intent. It was built to ensure consistency in how model-based engineering data is shared across organizational boundaries, and it treats product data as an interconnected knowledge graph.

This presentation demonstrates how these technologies converge within a model-based collaboration environment, connecting quality plans, inspection results, and more into a single standards-based interface. Attendees will explore how structured, standards-based information combined with early examples of AI-driven development of user interfaces and processes can compress decision cycles, accelerate root cause analysis, and move programs to production with greater speed and confidence.

Persistent identifiers and standards-based structure are what make model-based collaboration hold together across organizational boundaries.
