Bridging the MBE Gap with Content-based Collaboration Workshop

How do you move from model-based engineering to a Model-Based Enterprise that teams across the organization can actually use? This is the question that Anark VP of Marketing Patrick Dunfey will explore as part of a workshop he will conduct during the event.

Manufacturers are making steady progress toward model-based definition, digital product data, and connected engineering systems. But moving from model-based engineering to a true Model-Based Enterprise requires more than creating rich digital information. The broader organization has to be able to use it.

Manufacturing, quality, suppliers, service, procurement, program teams, and other stakeholders all need trusted product context, yet they rarely work in the same CAD, PLM, quality, or enterprise systems. When that context becomes difficult to access or understand, people recreate information in drawings, screenshots, spreadsheets, PDFs, presentations, and email. The digital thread may exist technically, while everyday decisions happen around it.

This session will share practical examples of how manufacturers are applying content-based collaboration to real MBE use cases today, along with best practices for getting similar solutions started in your own organization. Attendees will leave with concrete examples of where manufacturers are creating value and practical ideas for their next step toward MBE.

These examples will include:

• Model-based work instructions that bring engineering product context directly into manufacturing.
• Model-based First Article Inspection that connects product definition, inspection requirements, results, supplier evidence, nonconformances, and disposition.
• Supplier collaboration across PLM and ERP processes so technical and business workflows remain connected as information moves across organizational boundaries.
• Ultra-portable standalone HTML Technical Data Packages that extend rich product information into supplier, field, disconnected, and controlled environments.
• Model-based review and revision workflows that keep feedback and decisions tied to the product context behind them.
• Closed-loop feedback that helps move issues and dispositions back into engineering and enterprise processes.

For organizations early in their MBE journey, these use cases provide practical starting points that can demonstrate value quickly and build organizational confidence in model-based ways of working. For more mature organizations, the same patterns help extend the digital thread into additional manufacturing, quality, supplier, and enterprise processes.
